What people say about being married is a totally life changing experience. I have to second that now. Nowadays, after I wake up, I can no longer chill, take a cup of tea and then read the newspaper. Yes, I can still do that if my husband is on night shift or not working. But on days that he is on the day shift, I wake up, drank a bit of tea and then prepare breakfast.
Im still staying with my parents so my mum still does the cooking. For me, I have to lay the food on the table for the husband. His needs will come first before I can finally have mine. Hey, dont get me wrong! Im not complaining.
As I mentioned, it is a life changing experience and Im liking it. I guess now I'm still lucky as Im staying with my parents. Imaging how early I have to wake up to prepare breakfast if we are staying on our own..
So to newly-weds out there, for you to cope with the new marriage demands and environment, I suggest you guys stay with the parents first before moving on your own.. At least I believe it will reduce the stress or emotional ride of suddenly bearing the demands or responsibilities on your shoulder. For me, it definitely is!
Another change I notice is the fact that we have to compromise with each other. Last time when we are still singles, he used to spend his off days sleeping through the day and probably meeting up with his brother for some kopi or soccer. But now, he spends the day with me, sending me to my tuition places and waiting for me to finish tuition then go home.
For myself, whenever the husband is on day shift, he will normally reach home at about 1130pm.. After shower, I will reheat the food and lay it on the table. He will refuse to eat if I dont, so I always end up eating late suppers (rice ok!) and then going to bed after that... If that continues, I am sure that I will double my size soon!
So yeah, after being married for almost a month now, we both are still adjusting to the marriage life. Adjusting to our work schedules and off schedules. Not to mention adjusting to keep going to and from his place and mine....
And I'm totally loving every single minute of it :)
