Moving to a new office

So my boss had told the tenants (note: didnt tell us yet).. that we are moving out end of august.

They had decided to give up the facilities rental part of the business and move us to a smaller office.

At clark quay. Yes, i do admit that the new office will be nicer. I had went for an interview there about 3 years ago and had visited one of the office there.

It looks like a hotel room, there's your own pantry, toilet, meeting room but... the office space is open. Means no individual room for me. Just an open concept office.

Advantage? Maybe.. coz its open, so this could equate to more productivity.. not that im not productive in my own room now but hey, privacy do play a part when you need it.

My boss told me before that the new office will have a new pool. Where i can bring my kids over on a weekend for a dip, and then rest and relax in the office.

Pardon me, not that im unappreciative but what are the relevance? My place now has a new swimming pool nearby with playground themed water park. Entrance is $2 and $1 for adult and kids respectively.

Carpark at most is $2. And its near our house. I can bring some goodies or snacks, and then back to home sweet home. Bathe and food. No extra expenses needed.

Vs if i bring them to the swimming pool on weekends. Carpark charge, food expenses and other misc expenses.  Not to mention travelling time etc.

So if they think they are doing us a favour by trying to make add value to our work lives, i guess they are not hitting the jackpot.

A change in the management style and communication would be key to ensure a more productive and efficient work environment. I mean, we all do appreciate not been shouted at or treated as kids. Seriously.
