End of Confinement

Today marks the end of 44 days of my confinement, from the day that Qistina and I got discharged from the hospital. Which means my baby is 48 days old today :)

We have lots of plans this weekend, which I shall update prolly next week or something.

Someone asked me, is confinement compulsory? What is the reason for confinement?

Actually I'm being confined because Im told that is the way to go. I believe it is necessary because of the following:

1) Confinement allows the mother and baby to get sufficient rest at home, and not get into any restraining activities quickly

2) THis is the period where new mothers get massages and other traditional stuffs they are supposed to do in order to have a quick recovery

3) This is a critical period for baby because all this while, baby had been comfortable in mummy's stomach. We wouldnt want to expose baby too much and too quickly to the outside world which may traumatise some babies. So we start off with exposing them at home first, after a month plus when they are more alert, then we bring them out

I think these should be the core reasons for the confinement. I've heard stories where new mothers get headaches and drowsy after labor, legs expanded due to trapped wind ( my own cousin got this) and etc etc..

New mothers should also take good care of what they eat and drink. By right they should only take soups, avoid seafood and cold drinks.

My mum initially scared me with the kinds of foods that I must eat. But after we're discharged, she cooked crab on the second day that I reached home. Thankfully, my body is resistant and I have no itchiness whatsoever on my surgery wound. Basically, I ate as per usual, everything including seafood. The only thing that I avoided is cold drinks as my mum said cold drinks will lead to the tummy expanding even more and we'll have difficulty to get it back to its normal size.

So, I'll update the happenings this weekend soon! Its TGIF people! Enjoy!!
