Our little field trip

Mr. HHH & I slept close to about 1am on Monday night due to work – he was in his afternoon shift and I had some door knocking sessions with the team.

But on Tuesday morning, I woke up at 4.30am and him at 5.30am. Reason being, we were on our field trip to JB.

As I mentioned before that my dad’s car is an off-peak car, which means I can’t drive it between 7am-7pm without using that $20 coupon. And from my place to the checkpoint, it will take at most 50 mins to reach.

50mins = $20 is expensive to me. So we need to get out of Singapore before 7am.
Mr. HHH came at around 6.10am and off we went to top up petrol first. Thankfully, it wasn’t jammed at the causeway and we went over the Singapore borders just about 7am. Phew!

Upon reaching JB, we decided to stop at our favorite place first for car wash. While they wash & vacuum the car, we ordered some drinks and equipped with our street directory map, we planned where to go next.

Upon my aunt’s recommendation, we were supposed to go Singgah Selalu Restaurant for breakfast. But him being self-confident – “alah, I know where Danga Bay is. Tak yah tgk map”, lost our way. It was about 8am and we were super hungry, so we just stopped at McD and enjoyed their breakfast there.

About 9.10am (yup, we took our time for breakfast), we decided to go to Giant first to buy our household items that doesn’t involve meat or yoghurt drinks etc coz they won’t last being kept in the car for so long. We cruised slowly around the place because there weren’t a lot of people.

About 11am, we made our way to Angsana. Paid the shop that we engaged for our shoots, checked out the status of his berkats and finally visited a boutique where I can get my matching handbag, purse and shoes for my dulang.

However, I didn’t buy anything from that boutique because the shoes don’t have my size. Luckily I checked out several boutiques around JB that carries the same brand. So off we go to Holiday Plaza. The shopping mall is a bit run-downed, something like our local lucky plaza and they don’t even have a boutique of the brand. It was more like those shoes and bags in bugis, and I couldn’t find what I wanted.

So after asking around, we decided to head to City Square. There, the shop assistant didn’t bother about us initially. We were confused at their service at first, but I realized we weren’t properly dressed to go in such stores. We were in jeans and slippers! Hahaha.. Mr. HHH reverted to slippers coz his shoes that he was wearing got wet from the morning rain while on the way to my house.

Anyways, after the sales girl knew we could afford the stuffs, and that we are buying, their attitudes became friendlier. And we walked out the store a happier person, with a huge hole in our pockets.

We then stopped at Laksa Shack for lunch. Yummy!

After City Square, we headed to Jakel to look at the lace pengantin that they have been advertising in Berita Harian. The sale ended about 2 days ago, but luckily we still got the sale prices. We went round the entire store coz I just turned fussy suddenly. Kain ni tak lawa la, taknak bunga2 la, are some of my complains. Sampai orang kedai tu pun pening.

But we went off buying 2 sets of cloth that I am very pleased with. I thought they took tempahans, but apparently not. The sales assistant recommended that I go to Lagenda at Angsana Plaza to have it tailored since they specialize in baju2 pengantins. By the time we headed back to Angsana, it was already 7.15pm.

We discussed with the tailor the design of the dress, and she took our measurements. By the time we were done, it was already close to 8.30pm. Very deep discussion, I tell you. But the tailor is quite good coz she recommended different designs, with pros and cons to allow us make an informed decision.

Once that is done, we were so tired from the trip that I almost fall asleep walking and my leg hurts terribly. But we knew we had to make one more stop to Giant to buy all those nuggets, burgers, etc and yoghurts that are either not sold in Singapore or are cheaper to buy there compared to in Singapore.

We finally walked out of Giant at about 9.45 pm. Went to Petronas to top-up the petrol and back we went to Singapore. Seriously, the car boot was jam packed.

Summary of the day:

- 9 places in 15 hours (thank god there's no crowds)

- Total spent that day: RM 2700 BUT, we settled all that are outstanding dulangs (minus food) and we can move on to address other parts of the wedding arrangements.

I finally end this very long entry..
