MB, BB and TB finally went for the biz trip last friday night. So the entire week was set aside for packing and finalising all last minute details.
I left the office at around 9pm last friday. Work was crazy.
Another irritating conversation happened between MB & I sometime this week. And this time, it was about my time-off. You see, I have worked in 3 different companies as an intern. And all this while, the policies are the same. Interns are not paid OT, no medical benefits and NO TRAVELLING BENEFITS, as I had learnt 2 weeks back. So whenever I need to work over-time, I can claim this thing called the TIME-OFF.
If interns take leave, their day's wage will be cut. This is equivalent to unpaid leave. But for time-off, your wage will not be cut as you compensate it with your OT hours that you've worked.
If you still don't get it, basically time-off = paid leave.
After a conversation of "terror", I must say, I finally get to clear 2 time-off days. Thursday & Friday to be exact.
Apparently MB don't trust me about this time-off thing, and claims that she will call HR to double check. Can you believe it?
And what is more irritating is that she have the cheek to drop me an email last thursday, telling me the key tasks for next week. And 1 of the task is to help TB complete some of her work. I thought it was ridiculous when I first saw that line.
Reasons:
1) TB is not even in my department. And the pure reason why she is going (or rather, has gone) for this biz trip is because MB likes her. TB DID NOT EVEN CONTRIBUTE A SINGLE THING TO THE PREP OF THIS PROJECT.
2) Because she is not in my department, and that she hasn't even helped me a bit, I don't understand why I must cover her duties when what we both are doing are very different things. For my work, if I am unclear about anything, I can ask MB to clarify. But if I'm doing her work during her absence, who the heck should I go to clarify? I don't even know what she is doing in the first place.
I'm not being selfish or whatever, but I really think it doesn't make sense.
But because I was so busy preparing for their trip yesterday, TB did not have the time to brief me. For now, I'm kinda safe. haha.. But who knows? I may come in to the office on Monday and things I have to do for her is in my mailbox. We'll see....
Enough about being pissed, I like BB more. I think BB really have the E.Q and respect for others though she is the big boss of the department. This was an excerpt of what she said to me before she left for the trip that made me feel really appreciated.
".. It really is a waste that you can't come with us after all your hard work. You are really amazing, I didn't know that HR has such stupid policies. I'm really sorry for not knowing about such things, but I thought you really deserve to go...."
Hahaha...
Anyways, something freaky happened to my eyes since last Monday night. My eyes was really bloodshot red after I took out my lenses that night. The redness did not go away by Tuesday morning. I tried putting on my lenses on tuesday, but I kept tearing... So in the end, I went to work like this:
Nerdy Angel
Her vanity has been kicked-aside
Yup, for the safety of my eyes, I wore glasses to work from Tues-Friday. When I first appeared to work last Tuesday, my colleagues thought I had sore eyes. But I assured them that it was just some irritations from lenses. I'm glad my eyes are O.K. now. With some help from eye-mo, of course! It really works wonders!
Last tuesday was also another intern's birthday, Evonne. She turned 21! And as a birthday retreat, she took leave from wed-fri to go Bintan with her ang-moh boyfriend! Can you believe it!
Happy Birthday, Switz!
Remember my previous post on "OH MY GOD!" where I need to settle some school stuff?
I am really lacking 1 subject, and it is not even my fault! For my Operations major, I need to take 5 subjects, and I have taken 4. But unfortunately, I have taken the courses they are currently offering. The school replied to my email, and gave me 2 options:
1) I need to do an independent study course. Which means, for the whole 15 weeks, I will be doing a major project by myself under a supervision of a prof who agrees to supervise me. The topic and the prof is purely my own choice, but before I embark on the project, my proposal needs to be approved by the school first.
2) If I am not keen on the independent study, I can come back to school next sememster (ie Jan) to just do that 1 bloody course.
Since I really wanna graduate by end of this year, I have to choose Option 1. But finding a prof is really not as easy as I thought it would be.... Haiz, we'll see how la...
I think I have rant enough for this post. Will be back soon, I hope.
Anyways, I am so looking forward for the upcoming week. I think (and hope) that this will be the most relaxing week ever!
p.s: tho I'm still worried about the school stuff... :(
Till then, Love!
